Relationship expert John Gray discusses How Men Communicate. Video clip from Beyond Mars and Venus DVD.

Men do only what they have to do. During dating, men communicate. Once they are in a relationship, they don't repeat all the things they did while dating. Men think, "I did all that dating stuff, you should know that I like you". Men need to know that to have a happy relationship, they have to keep doing the dating stuff for the rest of the relationship. And the "dating stuff" is the little stuff like saying, "You look great tonight".

John Gray goes on to discuss how men and woman keep track of "points" for doing things, and says that men equate big things to big points. But women don't think that way, their brains are different. For woman, the big stuff is not more important than the little stuff. For a woman, the little stuff is important. Dr. Gray elaborates by discussing the phrase, "It's not the gift that counts, it's the thought". For a woman it is the thought that counts, but for a man it's the gift that counts. A woman gets excited about the present's wrapping and ribbons and card.

The key point that John Gray wants you to remember is that men think big points for big things but women think equal points for every act of love. Men don't have to big things to make women happy. It's the little things that count.
