| Relationship expert John Gray discusses How Men and Women Cope with Stress Differently. Video clip from Beyond Mars and Venus DVD. Men and woman cope with stress differently. And it is the lack of understanding of how each other copes with stress that can hurt a relationship. Men cope with stress by solving problems. A man will ask, "what can I do about it? and do something about it." The worst thing a man can feel is, "There's nothing i can do to solve this problem." Dr. Gray stresses the important fact that men feel best when they are solving prloblems. John Gray goes on to say that When a woman is faced with strees, she wants to talk about. She'll want to talk about all the problems in her life today. But for a man, if there's nothing that can be done to solve a problem, his coping method is to say, "forget about it". He does not understand why a woman would be talking about all these problems. Dr. Gray suggests to men that when a woman is talking about her problems, it is important to simply listen and not to say to her, "don't worry about, it's not a big deal, just forget it." A man should not say those things to a woman; those are the kind of things that a man would say to another man. When a woman is talking about her problems, a man will think that she is asking for his advice and the man will offer solutions. But that is not what a woman wants at such times. What she is doing is using her relationship to cope with stress. Men and women cope with stress differently and it is important that each understands how the other copes.
